This makes things easy for people to transfer data between multiple computers by toting around their ZIP drive. I no longer own any computers with parallel ports. I would like to get those back so I bought a add in PCI adapter. The exception is USS -based devices, which do expose a parport interface, and should work.

I use a power controller which sits under the monitor and gives me access to a power switch for just about everything in the system; that makes it easy to turn the Zip drive on right after turning the computer on. Thankfully, I never encountered one of the old click-of-death drives. So it seems to make more sense to use the SCSI bus directly? LPT1 is assigned to the port with the highest address, so setting the Zip’s port to use and the other port to use might be best.
I would like to see what’s on the disks. I don’t believe you.
